Competitions Starting Sunday!
Once again the Ultima-Java Competitions are going to be back up and running from this Sunday onwards! This year we’ll be going with the old favourite the Caption Competition, and the Costume Competition. Of course we can’t offer anything at the moment in the way of tangible prizes but the win, acts like a raffle ticket, and for every win you recieve throughout the year, you get a new ticket. This means the more wins you get the better chance you have of getting picked in the Final draw in December.
When November is finished, the competitions will end, and six names will be drawn from the ‘Helm of Choosing’ and those lucky six will have their characters featured in the Free Ultima-Java New Years Party Wallpaper.
This year we’re taking a different approach from what we have had in the past. This time each of the mods will be able to get their hands on the competitions for a short time. We’re hoping this will provide a greater variety of ideas and a different sense of humour or understanding when it comes to picking the winners.
The Caption Contest
This is a very simple competition. The Moderator in charge of the competition, will each week post an image, and ove rthe space of that week, everyone else posts what they think the caption should be. At the end of the week the winner is chosen and the image is immortalised with your name in the Caption Contest Archive.
Then after 4 weeks, the moderators will switch. The first one up is SAAM!
The Costume Competition
Have you ever looked at some of the UJ: History characters and thought “I’d like to ahve a go at redesigning that characters costumes or clothes? Well thats what this competition is all about!
The moderator in charge of this one will name the character, and may even from time to time place constraints on the characters design to make the competition a little bit more of a challenge, with the addition of colours or themes. Then it’s up to the members to redesign this character. Now you might be thinking, “This is an artwork competition”, and where to some extent you are corrent, this is not about artistic prowess, this is about your designs not your abillity to draw, even to that ends, we’ve placed outline dolls on the forum if you wish to use them to create the new designs on top of.
The winner will be added into the end of year draw, but there is an added bonus to this competition. On the odd ocasion I will give the moderator of the competition the go ahead, and at the start of the moderators term an announcement may be made, that the competitions winners design will be be used in an up coming UJ comic. This won’t happen every time, but when it does we will always be sure you know!
The first mod on this competition will be Rhu. He’s already told me his chosen character, but I’ll leave that up to him to tell you on Sunday.
This competition is not just for long time members,anyone who is reading this can eneter the competitions by simply signing up to the forums! We hope to see you all there!
